Die Wirksamkeit von Antidepressiva ist unter Experten umstritten, doch wie beurteilen die Anwender selbst ihr Befinden? Eine Umfrage ergab: Sie stufen ihre Lebensqualität als mäßig ein, und zwar als genauso mäßig wie depressive Menschen, die diese Psychopharmaka nicht nehmen.1

Und auch zwei Jahre später hat sich an dem Nulleffekt nichts geändert. Dieses Resultat einer Studie in den USA hat Aufsehen erregt und Kritik geerntet, vor allem kreiden Psychiater methodische Mängel an.
Nach dem Konzept der gesundheitsbezogenen Lebensqualität sind für den Erfolg einer Behandlung nicht mehr nur medizinische Befunde maßgeblich, sondern außerdem direkt die Einschätzungen der Patienten. Eine anerkannte Messmethode ist der Gesundheitsfragebogen Short Form-12, der aus 12 Fragen zur körperlichen und mentalen Funktionsfähigkeit besteht.
