Welche Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen?
Es gibt inzwischen zahlreiche Konzepte, das körpereigene Immunsystem in die Krebstherapie einzubeziehen, z.B. Immuntherapien mit Checkpoint-Inhibitoren, die bei einigen Krebsformen wirksam sind, oder Antikörper-basierte Therapien. Daneben könnten in Zukunft auch „Krebsimpfungen“ eine größere Rolle spielen: nicht nur bereits verfügbare präventive Impfungen wie die HPV-Impfung, die die Tumorentstehung verhindern können, sondern auch therapeutische Impfungen. Dazu gehören mRNA-Impfstoffe gegen Krebs.
