Stärkere Immunantwort durch Impfung an gleicher Stelle
Alle Impfungen einer Impfserie sollten immer in dieselbe Körperstelle gegeben werden, weil dadurch die Immunantwort stärker ausfallen kann. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommen US-amerikanische Forschende in einer Studie an Mäusen, die am 06.05.2022 im Fachjournal „Science Immunology“ erschienen ist.1

Für ihre Untersuchung konzentrierten sich die Forschenden auf die B-Gedächtniszellen des Immunsystems. Diese werden nach einem Erstkontakt mit einem Erreger oder durch eine Impfung in den Keimzentren in nächstgelegenen Lymphknoten gebildet und sind wichtig für ein langanhaltendes Immungedächtnis. Einige B-Gedächtniszellen durchlaufen mehrere Reifezyklen in den Keimzentren, wodurch die Affinität der Rezeptoren für die Antigene des Erregers spezifischer wird. Bei einem erneuten Kontakt mit dem Krankheitserreger oder den Antigenen einer Impfung wandeln sich ein Teil der B-Gedächtniszellen zu Plasmazellen um und bilden erneut Antikörper, die Krankheitserreger gezielter erkennen und bekämpfen können.
Die Autorinnen und Autoren der Studie gingen der Frage nach, inwiefern der Injektionsort einer Zweitimpfung sich auf die Wiederverwendung und Weiterentwicklung bereits bestehender B-Gedächtniszellen auswirkt, die durch eine Erstimpfung gebildet wurden.
